Using fabric as a flexible and workable material for forming concrete has lead me to use it in its own right for sculpture. I was taught dressmaking skills as a child and fabricating something lighter can come as something of a relief. Consequently my work has developed different strands. Quite often as an artist (for example when putting together an exhibition with the Yorkshire Sculptors Group) one is asked to respond to a specific place, an alternative space to the traditional white wall gallery. This may inspire a sculpture made from completely different materials and sometimes incorporating found objects which have a particular relevance to that place.
